Dear JICS Familes,
Greetings from your JICS Lab School Parents' Association Executive. We are a small group of volunteer parents (Amy, Beth, Casey, Deepta, Grant, Jamie, Karin, and Shone), elected by you, and our mission is to bring parents together so that we all feel a part of this wonderful school community.
We write to provide you with a brief overview so you can start the year off informed and aware of what is happening at the school.
To our new JICS families, a special welcome. We invite you to learn more about your PA, and to get involved. By now, a Buddy Family has contacted you to personally welcome you to the school, and to tell more about our programs, events and school culture.
Welcome Coffee - BYOM (Bring Your Own Mug)
Please join us for coffee and tea in the school courtyard on September 5th anytime between 9:30am and 11:30am. We would love to re-connect with returning families, and meet new families joining us for the first time.
Parent Social
Everyone is invited to our Parent Social on September 20th at 6pm at the school. This is an adult only event. Please follow the link to RSVP and sign up for babysitting for your JICS children.
Contributions to the Parents' Association
Help us make JICS great! Please contribute now to the PA. Please pay your PA fees now. We are asking for a membership fee of $25 per child and a suggested donation of $150 per child. Donations paid via Canada Helps are eligible for a tax receipt. Unfortunately, manual donations do not qualify for a tax receipt. Contributions will help fund classroom grants, technology purchases, event babysitting, parent education, social events and more!
Another Option: Donate to the PA via your corporate United Way campaign. Allocate funds to: The St. George's School's Parents Association Reg #119175537RR0001. We hope that we can count on this incremental fundraising avenue. If you wish to give more than our recommended amount, no amount is too big or too small.
Shop and Support
JICS branded swag is here, with proceeds going to the Parents' Association. We are offering JICS t-shirts, sweatshirts and RaDTaGZ for kids. For Fall delivery, orders for t-shirts and sweatshirts must be received by 5pm on September 7th. Click here to purchase now. Get your back to school labels at Mabel's Labels. Get Involved
We would love to talk to you about how to get involved at JICS as there are many opportunities to contribute and volunteer. Please visit the Volunteer Opportunities section of our website or reach out to our Volunteer Coordinators, Amy Cheung and Shone Joos, or speak to your Class Representatives. Volunteering is a wonderful way to learn about the school while meeting new people.
Upcoming Volunteer Opportunities
We need 3-5 parents to help with set up and clean up for the Parent Social. This is a one-time volunteering role with a minimal time commitment.
We cannot wait to welcome you this Fall. In the meantime, enjoy this gorgeous weather and the last few weeks of what we hope was a glorious summer you and your family.
