Donate to the Lab School

Diversity among students in education directly impacts their performance. Research studies show that students work and learn better in a diverse environment, enabling them to concentrate and push themselves further when there are people of other backgrounds working alongside them. This promotes creativity, as well as better education, as those with differing viewpoints are able to collaborate to create solutions.

There are numerous aspects that play into diversity in a classroom setting. Race, religion, gender, economic background, and learning styles are all notable factors. The biggest challenge we face is economic diversity. We rely on the generosity of donors like you to help us achieve our goals of economic diversity. Thank you for your consideration in contributing to the JICS Lab School!

JICS Lab School Diana Rankin/ Muncaster
Tuition Support Fund

This expendable fund, named in honour of a JICS parent who passed away while her children attended the school, helps to retain current JICS families and welcome new families with bursaries ranging from 5% to 100% of tuition. Since 2008, donations to this fund have provided financial support to:

  • Current families with children entering Grades 3 to 6 who could not otherwise consider staying at JICS.

  • Current families requesting one-time support due to changed financial circumstances which jeopardize, in the short term, their ability to keep their children at JICS.

  • New families qualifying for support with a child entering Grades 4 to 6.

Natural Curiosity:
The Environmental Education Initiative

Natural Curiosity is a fully donor-funded program of the JICS Lab School dedicated to improving environmental and Indigenous education across Turtle Island (North America), in the spirit of Truth and Reconciliation. Natural Curiosity fulfills the Lab School’s public purpose by providing professional development and resources to public school educators, which in turn supports thousands of students with developing a deeper connection to the natural world and an awareness of the importance of Indigenous perspectives.

There has never been a more important time to consider our impact and relationship to the natural world. Thank you for planting the seeds that will transform the landscape of education for future generations through Natural Curiosity.
