Our School Clubs
Clubs are created based on students’ interests, and may change each year as they are designed to be developmentally appropriate for specific age groups.
Sports teams begin in Grade 3. JICS participates in some TDSB sports competitions.
Below you will find a sample of JICS clubs that have been organized in past years.
Run Club
Grades 3-6
Members of our Run Club meet before school begins and enjoy a neighbourhood run.
JICS GSA
Grades 4-6
The JICS Gender & Sexuality Alliance is a club for students who identify within the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community and their allies. The GSA provides a safe space to hang out, and we also celebrate and raise awareness about 2SLGBTQIAP+ issues.
Art Club
Grades 4-6
The JICS Art Club allows students to choose from a list of materials and activities provided each day. This is a time for students to collaborate across grades, meet students not in their class, and pursue individual and group passion projects.
Book Club
Grades 4-6
Book Club allows students some extra time in the JICS library with our library teacher to read, discover new books, and foster a love of reading amongst their peers.
Basketball
Grades 4-6
Basketball practices are coached by staff members with a passion for team sports, skill-building, and sportsmanship.
Social Justice Club
Grades 5 & 6
Students passionate about learning how to change their community for the better are encouraged to join our Social Justice Club.
Creative Writing Club
Grades 4-6
Students write creative fiction and work together to support each other's writing. Students also practice using word processing software.
Sports Club
Grades 3 & 4
Sports Club aims to give students an extra opportunity to participate in different sports and games in order to promote healthy living and an active lifestyle while learning the value of team work and fair play.
