
Our School Clubs
Clubs are created based on students’ interests and they are designed to be developmentally appropriate for specific age groups.
Sports teams begin in Grade 3. JICS participates in TDSB sports competitions. Competitive sports activities with other schools begin in Grade 5.

Choir
Grades 1 to 6, February to June
Choir is run by one of our Music Teachers, Russell Leon. Choir starts the first week in February and runs 12 rehearsals until Music Night in May/June. Choir takes place on Mondays: Grades 1 and 2, 12:15-12:45pm and Grades 3 to 6, 1:00-1:30pm.

Co-Ed Volleyball / Badminton
Grades 5 and 6, February to April
Co-Ed Volleyball / Badminton typically takes place twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at UTS, starting at 7:45am. We ask that students are dropped off at UTS. The coaches are our Physical Education Teacher, and our Grade 5/6 Teachers, and a Special Education Teacher.

Grade 4 Sport Club
Grade 4, October to December
Grade 4 students are welcome to join the Grade 4 Sport Club, which aims to give students an extra opportunity to participate in different sports and games in order to promote healthy living and an active lifestyle while learning the value of teamwork and fair play. This Sport Club is run by our Physical Education Teacher and, typically, a Special Education Teacher. The Sport Club meets once per week on Wednesday mornings at UTS, beginning at 7:45am, and we ask that students are dropped off at UTS.

Junior Grades Creative Writing Club
Winter Term
Junior grade students are invited to write creative fiction during a recess time once a week in the Library with Chriss, our Vice Principal. The club members work together to support each other’s writing, and practice using word processing software.

Boys Basketball
Grades 5 and 6, December to February
Boys Basketball Club typically takes place twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings running from December through the month of February. Practices begin at 7:45am at UTS and students should be dropped off at UTS. Our Baskestball Club coaches are our Physical Education Teacher, both of our Grade 5/6 Teachers, and a Special Education Teacher.

Grade 3 Sport Club
Grade 3, Janaury to March

Girls Basketball Club typically takes place twice per week on Tuesday and Thursday mornings running from the end of October through the month of November. Practices begin at 7:45am at UTS and students should be dropped off at UTS. Our Baskestball Club coaches are our Physical Education Teacher, and both of our Grade 5/6 Teachers.

Newsletter Club
Grades 4 to 6, All Year
The Newsletter Club meets every week during one recess in the Jackman ICS Library with Krista our Teacher-Librarian, and volunteer interns. This club meets all year long, however, students may choose to join just for one issue at a time.

Running Club Cross Country
Grade 3 to 6, September and October
Running Club takes place at Jackman ICS from September to October and is supervised by our Physical Education Teacher and our Special Education Teachers, as well as volunteer interns. The club typically meets on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, from 8:00am to 8:30am.

Book Club
Grades 4 to 6, All Year
Book Club takes place every Wednesday during morning recess all year long, in the Jackman ICS Library with Krista, our Teacher-Librarian.
Cost: No Cost

Social Justice Club
Grades 5 and 6, Mid-October to June
The Social Justice club meets every Thursday at lunch recess in the Grade 6 classroom. Typically, the first meeting is in Mid-October, and the club meets all year long. The teachers involved in this Club are Krista, our Teacher-Librarian, and Chriss, our Vice-Principal.
