Dear Parents,
I am writing to apologize to you and to clarify some date changes for upcoming JICS events.
The date information that was shared with you at the start of the school year is incorrect for Music Night (family evening event) and Games Day (student-only school day event).
Music Night will not take place on May 24. The accurate date is Thursday, May 31.
Games Day has changed from May 30 to June 6.
I try very hard not to change dates of school events once they are announced to the community. Many of you would have the original date in your calendars since the Fall and have been diligently planning around these events during this very busy time of year.
I recognize that you are receiving this information very late and that this change is a tremendous inconvenience for you. I am terribly sorry for this mistake on our part and invite your feedback and suggestions to improve our communication. As you know, this has been a very unusual and unpredictable year due to the renovations and new building. All of us at JICS have appreciated how flexible and understanding the parent community has been.
Important dates ahead:
Monday May 21 Victoria Day, School Closed
Saturday May 26 JICS will participate in Doors Open Toronto (details coming soon)
Tuesday May 29 Family Fun Night (rain date May 30)
Who: All JICS families, all teachers & some alumni students like to attend (organized by Grade 1 parents)
What: Community celebration with food, beer/wine for adults, games for children Feels like: a backyard barbeque with low-key, fun games for children to play. Where: Lab School playground
When: 6:00 – 8:00 pm
Thursday May 31 Music Night
Who: All classes JK – Grade 6. Parents/guardians, grannies & nannies, family friends. We invite Nursery children to attend in the audience with their parents.
What: an evening of music-making and choir performances by the Jackman ICS children and their music teachers
Feels like: Listening to a wonderful selection of diverse musical productions
Where: Trinity St. Paul’s Centre for Faith, Justice and the Arts (Bloor Street). Children sit with their classmates on the main floor with teachers, while parents and guests sit in the balcony.
When: 6:45 - 8:30 pm
Wednesday June 6 Games Day
Who: All classes JK – Grade 6, and teachers. (snack station organized by SK parents)
What: a morning of games on the school yard. Children are put into teams, with two from each class and the Grade 6s leading. The Teachers run stations and the teams rotate through.
Where: The JICS Lab School Playground
When: morning
Thursday June 7 Family Movie Night
Thursday June 14 Grade 6 Graduation
Friday June 15 Last Day of School (school ends at Noon. Daycare open until 6pm)
