Dear JICS Families,
I am writing to you to share some news. This weekend I was diagnosed with retinal detachment in my left eye and I will require a vitrectomy on Monday. In 2013, I had this surgery in my right eye and I know that all will soon be well.
I will need to be away from the school for some time, three to six weeks. During that time, Chriss Bogert will be the acting principal. I have complete confidence in Chriss’ abilities – we are so incredibly fortunate to have her as part of the JICS Lab School leadership team. I will be working from home, fully accessible to Chriss, the teachers, and to you, parents on email and by telephone. In fact, I may actually have more availability than usual! I will continue to take part by phone in all meetings with JICS faculty and staff, the JICS Parents’ Association Executive, OISE, the University, and with the construction company.
I am sorry for this inconvenience. I will miss being with the children and I look forward to seeing you all very soon!
Please be in touch if you have any questions.
All the best,
Richard
