Dear JICS Families,
Last evening, we had the pleasure of hosting over 150 guests for our first public Parent Education Seminar, with many members of the JICS parent community, and the community at large. Guests travelled as far as Sarnia, Windsor and Barrie to come to see Dr. Ross Greene talk about his work with children, families and schools.
Dr. Greene is a psychologist and the originator of the innovative, empirically-supported approach now known as Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), as described in his influential books The Explosive Child, Lost at School, Lost & Found, and the recently released Raising Human Beings. Dr. Greene was on the faculty at Harvard Medical School for over 20 years, and is now Founding Director of the non-profit Lives in the Balance.
Dr. Greene was outstanding. He engaged the audience in discussion, showed us video of his work and a preview of his upcoming documentary, and addressed questions with clarity and compassion. Our guests left feeling encouraged and empowered, having learned new tools and techniques to address the challenging behaviours that most parents experience with their children.
