JICS In the News!

We are humbled to announced that a story about the Lab School has been featured on internationally renowned author, Richard Louv’s blog, Child and Nature Network. “Beyond Earth Day” is a story about the Lab School’s garden revitalization project “Community Roots” that began last year. More than that, it is a story that celebrates our relationship with the Earth, rooted deeply and collectively in our place, as an entry point for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a proud moment in our learning journey as a school community as we begin to take up the calls to actions in Natural Curiosity 2nd Edition - to reimagine and reclaim a deep and meaningful connection between our children and their natural world.

We were grateful to receive Richard Louv’s support for the publication of this article, and for his endorsement of the second edition of Natural Curiosity:

“Natural Curiosity is a great gift not only to North American educators, but to people around the world. As this good book makes clear, the often-Eurocentric deconstruction of reality does not represent reality. The point of natural curiosity is not to study a thing, but to inquire into the connections and relationships of all things and spirit, seen and unseen. This book is an inspiration, a doorway into a web of life and truth.”
