About The Event

One of the core values of JICS is emotional wellbeing as the foundation for learning, creativity and whole child development.  I imagine for many or all of the parents, this is one of the things that drew you to JICS as a chosen school for your child or children. The current pandemic has created a new reality.  As parents of young children, you are now on the front lines in a different way.  You are having to take on many new roles for your kids as teacher, coaches, friend, and more.  All of this in addition to possibly supporting your own parents / family members, trying to work from home, dealing with not being able to work or going out to work and the associated stress of that ... and don't get me started on grocery shopping!!  Additionally, there are so many things kids are missing in their lives right now; routine, physical activity, connecting with friends, being at school, learning with their teachers and peers, and participating in extra curricular activities that bring them joy, and a sense of competence. All of these factors can be a receipe for challenging behaviour for children.

In this webinar we will provide a framework for understanding why this current situation may be causing your child to act out or struggle in different ways.

We will lean in to discuss strategies to help you:

1) explore what might be behind your child's challenging behaviour

2) how to slow down and connect with your child when they are struggling

3) strategies to disengage and shift from reaction to response with your child

There will be time and space to ask questions and share some of your experiences about common struggles and what you are finding helpful within your family.
