1. First Day of School
What a wonderful start to the school year! We are in awe of the joy and readiness the students have already shown. They have leapt into school life in every class. Together with the children and you, we are creating a culture of high excitement about ideas and deep commitment to learning.
2. Daily JICS Screening
We had almost 100% of the children arrive at school with their daily COVID-19 screening completed. We had the children without forms wait in the quarantine room until parents were contacted and reminded to complete the daily form. Please note that we require the form to be completed by 8:00am so that we have an accurate list before the children arrive.

3. COVID-19 Updates
We ask that you please review this Toronto Public Health Important Return to School Update which includes important information about COVID-19 prevention measures and TPH school services for this year.
Please note, we have been advised by TPH to pause extra-curricular activities for the month of September, while school routines are established. We will delay the start of the Gr 4-6 Running Club (cross-country). Daycare will continue to provide care on Wednesday afternoons (including before and after school care). All curriculum related activities ie. phys. ed. will continue as previously planned.
We will continue to provide you with updates and information related to health and safety protocol as they become available.
4. Hot Lunch Program
Dear JICS Parents,
Visit our website to find the ONLINE ORDERING SYSTEM for the Fall term hot lunch program, as well as a PDF copy of the Fall menu.
Term one lunches start Monday, September 13th and end Thursday, October 29th.
ONLINE PAYMENT WITH VISA or MASTERCARD is preferred but E-transfer works too!
ORDERS DUE – Friday, September 10th.
If you cannot figure out the online system for any reason, or you need to pay with cheque or cash, please just send me an e-mail.
Our facility is completely nut/seed free. Please let me know about any other allergies by including the allergens in the comments section of your child’s order.
Vegetarian lunches can be ordered online – just write VEGETARIAN in the comments section. Celiac meals are also available at an additional cost of $1/lunch. Just add CELIAC to your comments, and I will contact you regarding any additional amount owing.
Note: Meal items may be switched occasionally if supply demands, but always from the same meal day!

5. Water Testing
Each year, Ontario schools and daycares are required to test their water for lead particles. Standing and flushed water samples from faucets throughout the Lab School were taken on August 27th, 2021. The results we received from the labs at SGS Canada Inc. indicate that the drinking water in our school is completely safe to drink. We also follow Ontario Ministry regulations by flushing our plumbing on a regular basis.
6. Photo Day - Tuesday, September 21
Focus on Children Photography have taken the necessary safety measures for this year’s photo day which will take place Tuesday, September 21. Please dress your children in bright colours! Focus on Children Photography will provide each student with a unique online code for parents to view their photos and place their order. This online order is provided via a secure system. Ordered photos will be distributed to children at school when they arrive.
