Why It Matters
All proceeds support the JICS Endowment Fund, which keeps our school economically diverse and supports research that strengthens public education beyond our walls.
Spread the Word
Please share with grandparents, family and friends. The more people who join in, the more we raise.
We deeply appreciate your help closing our first 100 years. Every dollar raised sets JICS up to reach more families and make a bigger impact in the century ahead! ⛳
2. Help Strengthen the JICS Community
Dear JICS Parents,
Our JICS fundraiser is this Friday, October 2, and we are so grateful to everyone who has already supported the event, whether by registering a foursome, attending the reception, or contributing to the auction.
If you have not yet had an opportunity to participate, we invite you to make a gift to the JICS Lab School Endowment Fund. Whether your gift is $40, $400, $4,000, or another amount, in the spirit of Friday's foursome fundraiser, we hope you'll consider making a gift of four! Every contribution matters.
Why the Endowment Fund matters
The endowment helps ensure that children who are already part of the JICS community can continue to attend JICS even when their families experience changing financial circumstances or unexpected economic hardship.
Just as importantly, a stronger endowment will allow us to welcome greater economic diversity into our classrooms. At JICS, we believe that a truly rich education is created by a community of learners who bring different life experiences, perspectives, ideas, and ways of seeing the world. This diversity strengthens the learning of every child.
Your support helps us preserve, and continue to build, the unique and vibrant learning community that makes JICS such a special place AND advance research that strengthens public education in Canada and beyond.
Please consider making a donation today. Every contribution matters.

3. Donation Drive for Na-Me-Res
Following the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Class 4/5A is running a donation drive for Na-Me-Res. Through a culture-based approach that addresses the holistic needs of its clients, Na-Me-Res’ (Native Men’s Residence) mission is to provide outreach services and permanent housing to Indigenous men experiencing homelessness in Toronto while providing outreach and support services to the broader population. The students have selected this organization as an act of reconciliation allowing us to support an Indigenous-led organization in our own community. In Canada, Indigenous Peoples make up about 5% of Canada’s population, however, due to structural and historical factors, they represent over 35% of those who experience homelessness. Families can donate:
🧦 Men's socks
🪥 Small toiletry items
toothpaste
toothbrushes
deodorant
other small personal-care items
🎁 Gift cards
There will be donation boxes in the JICS Reception until Oct. 16th. Thank you for supporting this initiative!

4. Natural Curiosity Announcement
🧡 Orange Shirt Day Swap
Just a reminder that if your child found a new-to-them shirt, we encourage families to make a donation to The Caring Society, which supports equity for First Nations children and young people, and reconciliation-based activities for all children in Canada.
