Happy Holidays

Dear Parents,

The “Festivals of Light” sing-along will take place on Friday morning at 9:00am. Parents and guests please join the children in their classrooms upon entry at 8:45 and together we will transition to the auditorium. We will sing songs representing the diversity of celebrations that take place during this time of year. Lyrics will be projected on the screens.

On Friday morning in the auditorium, we will also sell copies of the beautiful Photography Book showcasing the children’s work with 2017 Artist-in-Residence, Kelly Jazvac for $40 (cash or cheque payable to the JICS Parents’ Association). Each child’s work is included in the book which makes a perfect holiday gift! We sold 14 copies at Book Night and we need to sell many more to raise the funds to bring in a new artist-in-residence to JICS. Thanks for helping to enrich the arts at JICS!

Thank you for your support of our library program at Book Night on December 6. We raised $2235 from book sales ($1343 from Another Story Books and $892 from Indigo) to purchase new books for our collection and $1053 from the raffle which will be used to bring in guest speakers, such as Metis and Chippewa-Cree storyteller Ron Evans who was in our school today (for Grades 1-5). Ask your child about the wonderful stories she/he heard! We have booked Canadian author, Eric Walters, for February 14.

Wishing everyone a happy and safe winter holiday!

Richard Messina
