Urgent Parking Problem - We Need Your Help

Dear JICS Families,

We have received numerous complaints from our neighbours about JICS parents care-givers parking illegally at morning drop off and after-school pick up. Neighbours have written to say that vehicles have blocked their driveway or have parked illegally particularly on the east side of Walmer, north of the school, making exiting from their driveways very difficult and hazardous.

We work hard to keep good relations with our neighbours and ask that you and anyone you arrange to drop off and pick up your child/ren understands our rules found in the parent handbook: https://www.jicsfamily.com/parenthandbook

In the morning, Chriss, Holly, and I are on the sidewalk to escort young children to the school yard from cars that have stopped in front of our school property. We wear florescent vests to be easily identified. We love greeting everyone as you arrive but we ask that parents not consider this to be a time to have a one-on-one conversation.

We ask that children’s back-packs not be stored in the trunk of cars but next to the child to facilitate a quicker drop-off in our “kiss and drive zone”. Parent and care-givers should not need to exit their vehicles. We will gladly open the doors for young children and escort them into the playground where two JICS teachers are on duty (one at the gate and one in the yard) from 8:30 to 8:45 am.

We welcome parent-volunteers to help us with the “Kiss and Drive”. If you are interested and able to join us to escort young children and ensure that all vehicles are moving along, please be in touch ASAP. We have a vest for you!

Thank you for your help in this matter.

All the best,

Richard
